The Ministry of Education proposes to pay for retaking the matriculation exam. This is recorded in the draft amendment to the Ordinance on evaluating the results of the students' studies, dariknews.bg reported.
In the draft, it is written that until passing the state matriculation exam, matriculation students who have already taken the matriculation exam, but wish to take an exam in the same subject for the purposes of applying to higher education, as well as those who have not taken the exam, are allowed in this subject. A fee will also be required for taking the matriculation exam. The proposal is that the price be according to the Tariff for the fees collected in the system of pre-school and school education.
In February, the people's representatives from the Commission for Education and Science unanimously supported a change in the law, initiated by the ombudsman Diana Kovacheva, which will give high school seniors a second chance to take the matriculation exam, with which they can apply to university.
The idea of the change is that for the purposes of applying to a university, twelfth-graders will be entitled once, within one school year of taking the first state matriculation exam, to appear for a higher grade at a scheduled next such exam, for which they will a certificate is issued with the new, more favorable assessment for them.
It is not yet clear whether the proposal to pay a matriculation fee will be approved. The Ordinance must enter into force from the day of its promulgation in the State Gazette.
