I don't expect drama, maybe media dramas will be created. Everything is a matter of a few conversations, an option will be found. This is what he said in "Face to Face" on bTV, MEP Radan Kanev was asked if there is a danger of a constitutional crisis in the formation of the first caretaker government after the constitutional changes.
It is much better to have balances. The previous version showed that it leads to a dangerous overconcentration of power where it should not be created, he added, quoted by novini.bg.
The MEP also commented on the failed rotation of the government.
There are political facts - the party that held the mandate came out and said that it will not implement it. The GERB party wanted elections and got them. The question from now on is what we do as a society in this critical situation in which we are placed, stressed Kanev.
In his words, the risks that the fall of the government and early elections create for Bulgaria are many and very serious.
We warned about them, now the trouble is done and we have to meet these risks. After all, in a situation of chaos and powerlessness, we have to deal with problems that require a working government, pointed out Radan Kanev.
It is clear that this government with the majority it had was an advantage for Bulgaria and guaranteed Bulgaria's membership in NATO and the European Union. We are now faced with powerlessness. In second place is the economy of Bulgaria - the economy and agriculture require legal changes. During these nine months, the economy was largely shaken off by the pressure of corruption. The currently operational legal decisions are again postponed indefinitely, as the parliament is already working in pre-election mode. Some groundwork has been made to reform the justice system, to investigate the brutal violations and abuses in the judicial system. All this stops from now on indefinitely, Kanev noted.
As a key systemic risk, I can define the fact that on June 9, not only the European elections are held, but the negotiations begin with whom the European Union will move in the next 5 years. This is a huge debate. At this moment, Bulgaria will be in the vortex of chaos, will not have a majority for a period of time. In this situation of outright powerlessness, we will be absent from the most important debate. The question will be how we meet the crises. We need to overcome the damage, get out of this badly self-inflicted crisis and get back on track with real politics as quickly as possible after the election. Bulgarian citizens will make their choice whether they want society to move forward, the MEP also said.
