It is not true that there would have been a constitutional crisis if Dimitar Glavchev had not accepted, because Andrey Gyurov would not refuse. Kiril Petkov, co-chairman of "We continue the change", stated this to BNR. and co-chairman of the PG of the PP-DB, in connection with the statement by President Rumen Radev that the chairman of the Audit Chamber was the only one of the invited interlocutors who agreed to take the commitment to become acting prime minister.
„The candidates for caretaker prime minister were described in such a way that there was no choice, but in reality there was a choice. We know that Andrey Gyurov, if elected, would not refuse, and not because he wanted to, but because he would see it as a responsibility to the Constitution and to Bulgaria. The thesis that there would have been a constitutional crisis if Glavchev had not accepted is not true. We are sure of this for at least one candidate", he explained and categorically emphasized that there was a choice.
„It was not true that there was no choice between the possible candidates. Among the possible candidates there were also people who were not so brightly colored by party. It wasn't just black and white. I agree that these institutions should be filled with non-party people, Petkov added.
In his words, the Constitution works well as a format, but “in the occupied institutions at the moment, this format was very difficult.
„What we put in our agreement is that there should be no political quotas in all appointments in these institutions. Including from us, I'm not saying that we (PP-DB) should have a special quota, on the contrary, explained Petkov.
He identified Dimitar Glavchev, nominated for acting prime minister, as a “GERB candidate” and pointed out that the Minister of Internal Affairs Kalin Stoyanov cannot be defined as neutral.
We all saw, the whole of Bulgaria saw, that he is not just on one side, but very narrowly on one side. If we lose some 400,000 votes again and votes are bought again like in the local elections - it will be a complete outrage. We will know him Dimitar Glavchev by the cases - let's see now who the candidates will be. I really hope that the game of hidden addictions - unknown faces is not played. Let them say to themselves, if they are going to put only GERD people, they better put only GERD people. And not to say that they are independent, but to call them 10 times a day to serve political goals, explained the former prime minister of Bulgaria.
In the show "Sunday 150" Kiril Petkov expressed disappointment that the country is going to early elections for the National Assembly and made a request that after them the PP-DB “will not govern with anyone if they are not ready to sign the agreement that we worked out with clear dates”.
„I am disappointed that GERB did not keep their agreement and I am disappointed that they sent us to watch the same theaters for weeks. But one thing is good - they understood that we do not share our principles. Whoever wants to work with us must comply with these principles, because they are not ours, but those of the Bulgarian society, which, if it wants to move a little further, must have a working judicial system. There is no way we will become richer and more prosperous in Bulgaria if we do not have these institutions. Why are we constantly lashing out in front of the cameras and in the studios complaining to each other because there is no court. When we say that someone is corrupt, there is no court to say that he is really corrupt or not. It is not politicians who should become judges, prosecutors or regulators. Politicians must move these institutions to start working”, the co-chairman of the PP also explained.
We will be in the opposition, even if we are the first political force after the elections, if we do not have partners who share the same vision for Bulgaria as us, the PP-DB co-chairman was categorical.
„It is not possible at any price for Asen Vassilev to be the Minister of Finance in a government that the PP-DB supported. It's not at all costs, but we're wasting resources if we don't put the best people in the right places based on political color. No one has a reserved role or a reserved position. The only important thing is to continue building institutions that are not strictly political and allow society to move forward, Petkov pointed out.
We will necessarily have a common list with "Democratic Bulgaria" for the European elections and we, Asen Vasilev and Hristo Ivanov, will not be in it, Kiril Petkov stressed.
