Deputies voted for a 100 BGN Easter supplement for pensioners with pensions below the line of poverty with the second reading of the bill amending and supplementing the Law on the State Public Insurance Budget for 2024, BTA reported.
The MPs rejected the proposal of the "BSP for Bulgaria" that all pensioners receive fifty leva each for the Easter holidays. The proposal was rejected with 42 votes "for", 44 - "against". and 89 - "abstained". Georgi Svilenski proposed a re-vote, commenting that "the hypocritical attitude towards Bulgarian pensioners should be clear". After the re-voting, the proposal for all pensioners to receive a BGN 50 supplement for Easter was rejected with 44 votes "for", 32 - "against". and 101 - "abstained".
The MPs wrote in the Budget Law for the month of April 2024 that a one-time sum of BGN 100 be paid to the pensioners whose pension or the sum of the pensions, together with the supplements and compensations to them for the month of April 2024. , is up to BGN 526 inclusive. The proposal was voted with 138 votes "for" and 42 - "abstained". According to the adopted texts, the law enters into force on April 1.
