„I cannot accept that after the Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs claims that he had information that these people (Marin Dimitrov and Stefan Dimitrov – note ed.) were involved in smuggling, he and the former minister (Boyko Rashkov – note ed.) held meetings with them over a long period of time. I don't remember a more serious security scandal.“
This is what the former Minister of Internal Affairs and former DANS Chairman Tsvetlin Yovchev said in the Euronews Primetime studio about the customs scandal.
The arrogance with which they acted is beyond me. To know that these people are somehow connected with smuggling channels and to meet them without any worries.

“Going to saunas, hotels, taking selfies, presenting them to your colleagues and saying that these are businessmen who should be helped – this is something inexplicable“, pointed out Yovchev.
“From what has been confirmed, I think that such a person and such behavior has no place in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in general”, emphasized the former chairman of DANS.
He also noted that at the beginning of the scandal, some politicians tried to ignore such behavior, while in countries such as Germany and Austria, senior politicians resigned for far smaller gifts than the one received by the former chief secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Zhivko Kotsev .
