Vladislav Goranov: It will become more and more difficult - 1

In the program "Money.bg" former finance minister Vladislav Goranov commented on the topics of the state's financial framework and Bulgaria's entry into the Eurozone, Epicenter reported.

"Some time ago I concluded that Asen Vassilev did not draw up and did not implement a single budget. For better or for worse, it will happen now. The bad thing is that during all these years there was not a single politician who was responsible for the fiscal policy of the state and kept the treasury from the parliament.

Even sometimes, while Asen Vassilev was in charge, the parliament had to keep the treasury from the finance minister, as a result of which we did not take the necessary measures for joining the Eurozone in time. The opinion of the International Monetary Fund on the latest review of the state of Bulgarian public finances is as critical as it has not been in the last 20 years.

Our fiscal policy does not correspond either to the economic cycle or to the set goals related to joining the Eurozone. Unfortunately, the political crisis has not stopped and when there is a political crisis, public finances most often collapse, said Vladislav Goranov.

On the air of Bulgaria ON AIR, he stated that in the next few months one of these scenarios awaits us: either someone will have to limit spending, or very soon the European Commission will put us in an excessive deficit procedure and then by force, according to the rules of the European treaties, we will have to normalize our fiscal framework.

"It is becoming more and more complicated because the decisions that are being taken are in the wrong direction and are moving us away from reducing the budget deficit. They are taking us away from returning flexibility to the budget. Investments, as a buffer, still exist, but cutting off the tools for growth was a very wrong tactic," added the former finance minister.

According to him, we have more expenses as commitments than what is written in the budget, and at the same time we have a non-fulfillment of the revenue part, which increases the hole in the budget.

"It will become increasingly difficult", predicts Goranov.
