„The liberalized retail market for electricity exists gives a lot in Bulgaria. The correct term is for the ERPs (the electricity suppliers to the citizens) to come out. This issue has been postponed for a year. During this time, the price of electricity for the household will not increase much, except for the increase in the percentage of the price of electricity in foreign markets”.
This is what the former Deputy Energy Minister Yavor Kuyumdzhiev said in the program “The Live Day” on NOVA NEWS.
He explained that for the one-year postponement of electricity price liberalization, KEVR can use the electricity price for social needs. The low price can be maintained with the electricity produced by the “Kozloduy” nuclear power plant, which will offset the cost of the electricity produced by the remaining “American plant”, Kuyumdzhiev explained.
The energy mix includes wind and solar plants, which were added 2008-2012, but they do not create such tensions, he added. According to him, on Saturdays and Sundays at noon, the price of electricity can be zero BGN.
Most likely, we will not receive the money under the Recovery and Resilience Plan, said Kuyumdzhiev. The state budget provides for this money, its absence would increase the deficit or reduce capital expenditures, added the energy expert.
He pointed out that there is also a positive point in the fact that BGN 500 million, intended for the construction of solar power plants as a grant to certain people, did not materialize. “Because it is unfair”, explained Kuyumdzhiev.
