"It is a hub where many people pass through because there are many lines of public transport. We contacted the district administration, from where they told us that they are waiting for the adoption of the budget of the Metropolitan Municipality. This happened in March and we continued to look for the district administration. From there, however, they did not provide us with an interlocutor, they did not provide us with positions," explained Borislava Alexova, a reporter at BNT.
Several of the shop owners in the underpass in question have abandoned their businesses not only because of the destruction, but also because their shops have become the target of vandalism.
Our team contacted the district administration again earlier this week - this time they said they would provide us with an official announcement.
"Coincidentally or not, when we went to shoot new footage of the underpass, we found their crew carrying out ongoing repairs. We also saw the deputy mayor of the region on the spot.
Eng. Hristo Valchanov, Deputy Mayor of the Triaditsa region explained that a structural inspection of two underpasses on "Bulgaria" Blvd. is being carried out. - at the intersections with "Todor Kableshkov" and "Gotse Delchev".
"What we as a district are proposing - once this structural survey is done and measures are identified to repair the structure in terms of leaks, then in a phased manner, we also do an architectural design to completely change the ceilings of these subways. After that, a public tender will begin for the selection of a contractor, as the amount will be more substantial," he pointed out.
According to Valchanov, it will take at least a year to complete the project, select a contractor and release the funds.
