A driver was removed from a locomotive for driving a train on the Sofia line – Dragomaniac after drug use. Field test results were initially positive. The man was in shock because everything happened after a sudden encounter with a pedestrian who stumbled in front of the composition and a few meters of braking distance proved fatal.
The driver's alcohol test was negative, but initially positive for drugs. Thus, from the cabin of the locomotive - the street person, ended up on the street and without a job.
„I had an accident after the stop “Vrabnitsa” to the "Obela" stop. I honked after seeing that the man was obviously in trouble. I hit the emergency brake and stopped, but the guy went under the train and I hit him. As far as I understand, the person was alive after the collision. He then fell into a coma. I personally called Emergency Services. This is what he told in “Hello, Bulgaria” Lyudmil Iliev.
When the authorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs arrived at the scene of the accident – Iliev's alcohol test was negative. But the drug test showed the presence of cannabis. “I personally have never used drugs in my life and I do not know what they are. I have raised my children by myself – what example could I have given them if I use drugs”, he explained.
The driver was retested at his own expense and the analysis showed that he did not use drugs.
