From Veliko Tarnovo, the leader of GERB Boyko Borisov personally took responsibility to start the payments as quickly as possible of the compensation of the people whose crops were damaged by the hail.
He linked this directly to the formation of a regular cabinet. If a government is formed this week, I am committed to helping people quickly. But this is only if we form a government.
This is what GERB leader Boyko Borisov said during a visit to Veliko Tarnovo, the BGNES correspondent in the city reported. Borisov visited populated areas heavily affected by hail. He was accompanied by the mayor of Veliko Tarnovo, Daniel Panov, who explained to the people how and when they will receive help to restore the damage caused by the hail in recent days. From Monday, the removal of the broken roof tiles will begin, new ones will be distributed from the town hall, assured Panov.
If there is a government - we will help. If there is no government - I can't say anything, added Borisov. From Saturday we are going around the towns and villages affected by the hail. These disasters are becoming more severe and frequent. Once upon a time, BGN 1,000 assistance per household might have been enough, but now it is not enough for anything, the GERB leader added.
There is an option for the National Assembly to decide that, in the event of such a disaster, support should be provided automatically from a special fund, rather than having to rehearse every time what will happen. And natural disasters will become more frequent, unfortunately. People expect us to have a solution to their problems, nothing else interests them, added Borisov.
Last week, the mayors of Karlovo and villages from the region came to me, then I called Glavchev and begged him to grant money for the damages after the floods two years ago, and they granted them money.
When asked why the state funds were released so long after the floods in Karlovsko, Borisov replied: "That's why the battle now is who is the opposition. The battle is now to see who is the strongest opposition. These two years, why didn't they help them in Karlovo?".
"One-time assistance of BGN 1,560 is applied per household. This is granted by the state. The funds will be allocated at the end of June-July", the mayor of Veliko Tarnovo Daniel Panov told the people.
Borisov came to the realization that this money may once have been enough, but now it hardly is.
"Maybe this one-time aid should be lifted", the mayor of Tarnovo guessed.
In the morning, Kiril Petkov posted on his Facebook that the biggest success of these elections was that Borisov would not be prime minister. Well, if this is his dream, I have no words, my dream is for this country to work for the benefit of the people and to solve their problems, Borisov concluded.
