As expected, Atanas Atanasov remains at the head of the DSB and as part of the PP-DB coalition. Today, at its meeting, the National leadership of the party assessed the results of the elections as a "serious loss", but with the clarification that it is a loss of the PP-DB coalition.
And decided:
"The national leadership of Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria, evaluating the results of the elections, gives mandate and confidence to the chairman of the party Atanas Atanasov to continue the talks within the framework of Democratic Bulgaria and our partners from We continue the change to create conditions for successful work within the framework of the new National Assembly. The national leadership convenes the Executive Board of the DSB on 06.07.2024, at which the scheduling and holding of a National Assembly will be discussed.
Thus, the maneuver to preserve the position of Atanas Atanasov at the head of the party can be considered successful. How this will contribute to eventual success in the battle for voters remains to be seen. But with familiar and seriously exhausted faces at the head of parties fighting for change, it is unlikely to get far.
