Emil Sokolov: The result - third place after DPS, is something that no one in the PP-DB wanted to admit as a possible option - 1

It is too early to say whether we are heading for new elections. The assessment is by the political scientist Emil Sokolov, who was part of the PP-DB lists.

The tandem GERB-SDS - DPS managed to generate a result that with the help of one of the small parties, probably ITN, can form a majority, he told BNR.

"If we follow elementary political logic, ITN should not participate in the formation of such a government, because they are one of the parties that increased their results in these elections. The most logical thing is for them to hold this course. Participation with GERB and DPS would bring ITN back under the line."

Regarding the performance of the PP-DB coalition, he predicts that serious changes can be expected.

"The assembly caused some image damage, but the result – third place after DPS, is something that no one in the PP-DB coalition wanted to admit as a possible option".

"There is a permissible period that will soon expire,", he said in connection with the silence on the part of PP-DB.

The political scientist believes that the resignation of Hristo Ivanov was predictable and this time his move is much more decisive.

Sokolov is of the opinion that the PP-DB coalition was not a mistake and was "the most logical move", but admitted that there was communication damage.

"Communication is problem #1 of the PP-DB because the electorate is more demanding.

There is a way to the voters who did not support the coalition in these elections, but also did not vote for other formations, Emil Sokolov pointed out. In his words, "there is no time to postpone this conversation", because restoring trust takes time and cannot be done in one election campaign.

In connection with the legitimization of Delyan Peevski, the political scientist commented that he managed to "clear his field and put himself in the spotlight":

"Peevski was systematically underestimated not only as a communication damage, in general as a risk for this government. Something he's been working on since day one is to present himself as an inescapable factor. He was left to be a near-monopoly, pushed aside – let him talk, it doesn't hurt. But at one point it became clear that it is not just a hindrance, but can be a reason to go to the elections."
