"Traditions in a parliamentary republic dictate the leading political power to propose a Speaker of the Parliament and have him elected. However, they were violated. More political wisdom is required, the rest is infantilism.
This is how Prof. Ognyan Gerdzhikov, former chairman of the National Assembly and former acting prime minister, commented on the unsuccessful attempt to elect Raya Nazaryan to the BNR.
"The reason is not in her personal qualities. Whoever was proposed by GERB, even Jesus Christ, would still not be chosen. This is the configuration in the parliament.
I expected there to be a failure to select. This does not speak well for our political class. If they are thinking about Bulgaria, these issues should be resolved routinely.
The leading political force - GERB, has already started negotiations to form a government. However, only two parties responded to her invitation – DPS and IT.
"I do not rule out that we will have elections again in the fall".
There is a need for something different, Prof. Gerdzhikov pointed out and explained that it refers to the creation of a presidential party.
"For some time there has been talk of the expectation that it would be created and revitalize our political life".
He commented on the probability that ITN will decide to participate in joint management with GERB and DPS.
"If they show political sense. However, I am worried that the life of this administration will be short.
Prof. Gerdzhikov explained that "DPS is the most serious and stable political party in Bulgaria".
I think that the president has accumulated political experience and will do what is necessary - to give the parties the maximum opportunity to find a common language, he also pointed out.
"His role will not be small at all. Over the years, he has proven that he acts adequately.
I would like to have a government, but I am not convinced, predicted the former chairman of the National Assembly.
"If no solution is reached, it will be a real political disaster.
