Partial local elections will be held in several places in our country today, June 23, dariknews.bg reported.

Nearly 250 police officers will monitor the order and the normal course of voting in the elections for the new Municipal Council in Haskovo, the press center of the Regional Directorate (OD) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the southern regional center announced. Extraordinary elections were held after the court canceled the vote for the representatives in the local self-government body from October 29, 2023.

Until the end of the elections today, June 23, there will be an increased police presence and mobile teams in public places and in the areas of the polling stations. An organization has been created for immediate response and verification of incoming signals about violations of the electoral process and public order, the ODMVR assures.

Residents of the largest village in the Suhindol municipality will elect a mayor today. The partial local elections in Byala Reka village have only one candidate.

Partial mayoral elections in the Suhindol village of Byala Reka were reached after the mayor Madlena Rusanova from the BSP, who was elected in the fall of last year, retired and for family reasons submitted her resignation on April 10 of this year.

Byala Reka is the only town hall in the Suhindol municipality where people have the right to directly elect the mayor of a settlement. There is only one candidate for Sunday's election. Emilia Dimitrova was appointed by an initiative committee.

The polling station in Byala Reka is prepared for the elections, the paper ballots have been delivered, said the Suhindol municipality. To be elected mayor, even though there is only one candidate, he must have received 50% plus one vote of the actual ballots.

Partial local elections are coming up in four villages on the territory of Pernik region.

These are Studena, Lyulin, Bogdanov dol and Priboy, announced the Municipal Election Commissions in Pernik and Radomir.

The partial vote in the settlements was reached after the powers of their newly elected mayors were prematurely terminated.

In three of them - Studena, Bogdanov dol and Priboy, the winners of the local vote last year did not comply with the legal requirement within one month of taking the oath to terminate their participation in commercial companies. The mayor of the Pernik village Lyulin resigned for personal reasons.

There is only one candidate for the post of mayor in two of the villages - Studena and Lyulin. Two contenders will compete in the other two settlements.

Studena will be the only village where voting will take place in a total of two sections. There will be only one electoral commission in the remaining three seats.
