The split and this open conflict between Ahmed Dogan and Delyan Peevski is a qualitatively new situation in Bulgarian politics, which can be dangerous for the country.

This was commented on by the political analyst Boris Stanimirov and the sociologist Kancho Stoychev on Euronews Primetime.

According to Stanimirov, the root of the division in DPS is Peevski's endless appetite for power and control.

It was shown to him, even when he ran for the presidency, that they would not give him the whole party. I think that Peevski overdid it very seriously and practically broke the whole structure on which he relied with which allowed, among other things, Borisov, when he managed to lie about these elections that passed, to free himself from his dead grip“, the political analyst believes.

In his words the meeting between the Turkish ambassador and the two co-presidents – Delyan Peevski and Jevdet Chakarov, shows additional dynamics in the party.

„Certainly, this will not be a short-term battle, with which they will exclude one or two and things will calm down. This is about a very deep provocation in the heart of the ethnic group of this party as a political body,” said Stanimirov.

„Historical experience shows that when a party splits on an ethical basis, usually one part becomes radicalized. An internal struggle begins, and in order for one part to stand out, to gain the upper hand, this leads to radicalization, which in any case leads to very unpleasant and very dangerous consequences. Perhaps there are people who, for some reason, enjoy a DPS split. "I am not among these people," emphasized Kancho Stoychev.

„We don't have enough information about the nature and depth of the conflict, but everything we see on the surface points to a serious deep conflict, not just the flaying of one or two people”, he noted.

According to the sociologist, we have enough dividing lines in Bulgaria, and having an ethical division would be too much for us.
