The situation in the DPS is "beat me, I love you" because for several days there have been oaths of allegiance, explanations of love, but also - and blows on the knuckles, dirty tricks. Peevski is like the executive director of this corporation, who can be replaced. If he is not in the DPS, however, that will be the end of his political career. This is what the political scientist from the Bulgarian Institute for Legal Initiative Teodor Slavev said on the air of "Tvoyat den" on Nova News
According to him, the conflict in the DPS is most likely about money. "What will be the fate of the co-president and the party is unknown, but there will be electoral damage. Obviously, there is a dispute and a conflict that is resolved through the structures for whose governance there is a struggle. They will make the decision, and that is why there is talk of a collective beginning. In this battle, however, Dogan will win," commented Slavev.
Political scientist Hristo Panchugov pointed out that things in the DPS are multi-layered and there is division. "I don't think it was born along the axis of Euro-Atlantic-pro-Russian orientation. The conflict is yet to develop and will have ramifications far beyond the forthcoming decisions of the PG. What will happen to the party is a serious question, not only because of the balance that the DPS holds, but also because of the stable support from the compact ethnic minority," he believes.
In his words, the image of the DPS is currently crumbling. "No matter how the clash ends, there is no positive outcome for the party that would return it to its previous position. If all this is according to plan or there is a scenario, then it is extremely poorly thought out", added Panchugov.
