The participation of military personnel in extinguishing the fire is according to the order of the commander of the Ground Forces, Major General Deyan Deshkov. Today, a request was received from the Ministry of the Interior for two helicopters from the 24th airbase – Krumovo for controlling a fire that occurred in the land of the village of Gornoseltsi, Ivaylovgrad municipality, Haskovo district.
Servicemen from the 61st Stryam Mechanized Brigade – Karlovo and today from 07:42 they continue to provide assistance to the fire services in extinguishing the large forest fire between the villages of Pesnopoi and Mihiltsi, Plovdiv region. 41 military personnel with 9 units of specialized equipment and a medical team, under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel Pavel Todorov – commander of the 3rd mechanized battalion of the 61st Stryam mechanized brigade, are fighting the fire. The deputy commander of the brigade, Colonel Dimo Gyuzhenov, is also present. The actions of the servicemen are mainly aimed at limiting the possibility of the fire spreading by extinguishing smoldering fires and making clearings.

Two Air Force helicopters – Mi-17 and AS 532 AL Cougar, from the composition of the 24th air base – Krumovo yesterday, July 12, two fires were extinguished – in the pine forest in the hard-to-reach area in Sredna Gora between the villages of Mikhiltsi and Pesnopoi and later a fire broke out in the area of the village of Srem, Topolovgrad municipality, Haskovo region.
The participation of a Mi-17 helicopter in extinguishing the forest fire in the Plovdiv region lasted 3 hours, 21 approaches were made and 42 tons of water were thrown. The second AS 532 AL Cougar helicopter completed a mission lasting 5 hours and 25 minutes, making 52 sorties and dropping 83 tons of water. After that, he was redirected to a fire in the Srem village area, Topolovgrad municipality, where in 2 hours and 15 minutes he made 3 releases of 6 tons of water.
