President Rumen Radev handed the second exploratory mandate for forming a government to the second largest parliamentary group in the 50th National Assembly - “We continue the change – Democratic Bulgaria”, BNT reports.
Kiril Petkov, Nikolay Denkov, Bozhidar Bojanov, Lyudmila Ilieva, Atanas Atanasov and Nadezhda Yordanova came to the presentation of the mandate from PP-DB.

The second largest parliamentary group, however, returned the mandate unfulfilled after they requested a three-month delay in their proposed draft declaration for exiting the political crisis and did not find support for it from the other political forces represented in the parliament.

The text of the proposed declaration declares support for seven legislative initiatives and decisions of the National Assembly, including the election of members of the Anti-Corruption Commission, the adoption of a new Law on the Judiciary, amendments to the special laws governing the work of the services for security.

"The answer after the conversations that took place is that this cannot happen. We will not change our approach, we will maintain these priorities to create as a country a welcoming environment for business and investors, so that we increase incomes, reduce inequality, have funds to provide better education and health care. It turned out to be impossible in this National Assembly. We expect to receive stronger public support so that at the next opportunity we can raise these topics again and they will be at the center of discussions in Parliament. The fight against corruption is not an end in itself, but the main means to achieve success in this direction. The decision is that I receive a mandate as prime minister, but with the task of returning it unfulfilled," said Nikolay Denkov, PP-DB.
According to the provisions of the Constitution, after the second exploratory mandate to form a government is returned, the president instructs a subsequent parliamentary group to nominate a candidate for prime minister.
