Solomon Passi: We are sending Nikolay Nenchev to Kiev - 1

Former Minister of Defense and former leader of the agricultural movement Nikolay Nenchev will take over the leadership of the Bulgarian diplomatic mission in Kiev in the coming days. This was announced by the leader of the Atlantic Club, Solomon Passey, during a forum of the organization.

The ambiguities surrounding Nenchev's new role

At the moment, the mechanism by which Nikolay Nenchev will be appointed as the head of the embassy in Kyiv has not yet been specified. There are two options – either as an ambassador officially sent by the head of state Rumen Radev, or as a special plenipotentiary of the foreign minister Dimitar Glavchev.

Bulgaria has been without an ambassador in Ukraine since the beginning of the war

Bulgaria has not had an ambassador in Ukraine for more than two years – a period that coincides with the beginning of the war in the country. The lack of a permanent diplomatic representation of Bulgaria in Kyiv has created difficulties in maintaining effective diplomatic relations and assisting Bulgarian citizens in Ukraine.

Who is Nikolay Nenchev?

Nikolay Nenchev is known for his positions as a prominent Euro-Atlantic and democrat. He is a friend of the Ukrainian people and a categorical opponent of Russian aggression against Ukraine. Nenchev is also known for his efforts to cut off any Russian influence in Bulgaria during his tenure as Minister of War.
