They found a parasite in the drinking water of the village of Djuliunitsa in the municipality of Lyaskovets. People are worried about their health. The Regional Health Inspectorate is adamant that the parasite "horse hair" it is not dangerous for humans and animals.
On social networks, a woman from the village of Dzhulyunitsa published a clip showing a 20-centimeter-long parasite swimming in a plastic bucket of clear water. This caused concern among local people:
"Three days since I saw the clip, I haven't drank water from the tap. Is it true or not, but there are concerns.
"It is not known what carrier this is and who will pay attention?“ “Like a worm is something that has crawled. They say: tapeworm, what tapeworm?“.
The “Yovkovtsi“ and the Regional Health Inspectorate, said the mayor of Dzhulyunitsa, Marian Tochev:
"The checking authorities found that it was not a tapeworm. This is called "horsehair"“.
The RZI pointed out that the parasite "Gordius aquaticus" or the so-called "horsehair" inhabits stagnant or slow-flowing freshwater reservoirs, so it is impossible to "run off" of "horsehair" from the plumbing system. This biological species is not pathogenic for humans and vertebrates, the health authorities assure, BNR reported.
Meanwhile, a project for more than BGN 5.5 million has started in Dzhuliunitsa to replace 14 km or 60 percent of the village's water supply network.
