The consumption of natural gas in Slovakia in the next 3 to 5 years will remain around 4 billion cubic meters per year and will not return to the previous level 3 years, when the country used almost 6 billion cubic meters of this raw material, the Slovak news agency SITA reported, citing the Ministry of Economy of the Republic.
„In the next period (3-5 years), gas consumption is expected to stagnate or moderately decrease”, the agency quoted an excerpt from the analytical report of the Ministry of Economy.
In 2023, the republic with a population of approximately 5.5 million citizens used 4.3 billion cubic meters of gas. The reduction in consumption is related to the saving of energy resources and the intensifying process of global warming, against the background of which the number of cold days in Slovakia is decreasing.
