"We have to see how the budget for 2025 will be made. For the first seven months of 2024 alone, we have a deficit of nearly 1.6 billion, which is very worrying. This deficit is due to the continuous salary increase and the rulings of the IC. The other unpleasant thing is that we are almost at the debt ceiling. The debt for this year alone is close to 10 billion. I don't know if the state will bear such a rate of debt," he added.
"For me, it is unacceptable to increase salaries through specialized laws, as happened in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Why was the increase not made through the budget, but through the Law on the Ministry of Internal Affairs? For the 2025 budget, nearly another 2.5 billion will be needed to increase salaries, social costs and pensions. There is nothing wrong with that, but why are funds not allocated for economic development. The problem in Bulgaria is that there are no working people. Capital expenditure must be invested. Wages must be increased, but productivity must also be looked at," Lubomir Karimanski was emphatic.
