Deyan Nikolov: We will introduce the law on foreign agents until it is adopted - 1

We will introduce the law for foreign agents until accepted. This was stated by Deyan Nikolov from "Vazrazhdane" before BNT, quoted by FOCUS, after this week this law was rejected in the committee on culture in the parliament.

The bill provides for mandatory registration as foreign agents of all persons and organizations that receive foreign funding, no matter what the purpose, in the amount of at least BGN 1,000 within a year and a ban on working in various institutions.

"This will not be the last time we will introduce this law. If there are more elections, and not only, in the future, look, we will bring it until eventually we can get this law. It's not that impossible. Just as the Law on the Prohibition of Non-Traditional Sexual Orientation in Schools did not have much of a chance to pass, however it passed, in the same way, I think that in a given situation it may turn out that this law will also pass. But look at the conceptual level, what is it about this law that worries us? The States have such a law, Russia has such a law, every self-respecting country has it," said Deyan Nikolov on BNT.

"In the United States, they provide up to 5 years in prison if you do not comply with the law. We do not envisage such a thing. So I'd say theirs is quite a bit more restrictive. If someone thinks that something is wrong with this law, why don't they propose changes between the first and second reading and make it such that it meets the interests of Bulgaria. I think we should conceptually agree that any self-respecting country should have such a law."

According to Deyan Nikolov from "Vazrazhdane" the law on foreign agents is not supported by the other parties because they fear that they will come under its blows.

"There is no second reading because they are afraid. Because they all get funding from abroad. And because all, no matter how they do the law, will fall before its blows. Let's pass the law and see who will fall under its blows. We have nothing to hide and no worries. Let others be so magnanimous, let us accept the law all together and see who will fall under its blows."

Asked about the recent visit of representatives of "Revival" in Moscow, Nikolov stated that it took place entirely at his own expense.

"We were at the BRICS forum at the invitation of the Russian Federation. Indeed, there we saw the free world. Great place. We live under an illusion that we are in development. There we saw 120-130 countries that think about the future of the world and think about a multipolar model and are not satisfied with the imperialism of the United States and Western Europe without being focused on them. They just think about their economic partnership, cooperation and development."
