9 600 voting machines are out of warranty. This was stated by the chairman of the CEC, Kamelia Neikova, on the air of BNT.
She specified that these machines were delivered in 2021, and their warranty period is three years.
"Even if it's expired - it doesn't mean they can't work. I've heard from the director of Ciela Norma that they can work for 50 years. "We all have devices whose warranty period has expired, but we don't throw them away," she added.
However, she noted that during the warranty period the maintenance of the machines is free, and if the warranty has expired, there is an additional payment.
"In every election, we assign preventive maintenance to the machines. With the use of these machines, perhaps, some problems accumulate. Of course it's not the paper. I don't know how many times this happened. "How many times were tests done in accredited laboratories", explained Neykova.
"The use of paper used in previous elections will not be permitted in any way. The CEC made a decision at the end of September and instructed all regional governors, mayors and the printing house of the BNB to destroy all unused paper rolls, Neikova stressed.
