An express train with nearly 200 passengers derailed this evening in the German province of Saarland after hitting a rock, DPA reported.
The driver suffered bruises, but there were no other injuries, a Saarbruecken police spokesman said. Passengers have been transferred to another train.
The stone, about one meter in diameter, came down along with soil and debris from a slope near the tracks. The people on the train were lucky as it derailed to the right, where there is another track, and not to the left, where the slope is, the police spokesman said.
The train with the number E3 was traveling to Frankfurt, when the accident occurred between the municipalities of Namborn and Türkismühle.
