A new European standard will guarantee the quality of dairy products in our country such as cheese and yellow cheese, which already have a protected name and origin. According to the industry, the BDS (Bulgarian State Standard) brand has already been compromised and provides opportunities for unfair practices, reports Nova TV.
"Over the years, the consumer has become accustomed to looking for the BDS brand, as for him this indicates the quality of the product he consumes. We have been warning for a long time that a product that is subject to VAT in no way guarantees that the milk is Bulgarian and of good quality. You can also import milk from Africa and sell it for Bulgarian. The guarantee of quality is the European protective marks - Protected name of products, which guarantee the Bulgarian consumer that the product is made with raw materials produced in our country", said Simeon Karakolev, co-chairman of NOKA (National Sheep and Goat Breeding Association).
