Petar Petrov: A new SJC must be elected - 1

„The first bill we have ever submitted to the National Assembly, was for changes in the judiciary. We believe there are huge legislative problems in the justice system. I divide them into three main directions. First of all, with regard to the heads of the judiciary, because we believe that there are individuals who are dependent and there should be selection procedures that do not allow this. This depends on procedures that are adopted by law by the relevant institutions – whether from the Supreme Court, whether from the Supreme Court".

This was stated by the leader of the party “Revival” for Montana Petar Petrov in front of NOVA NEWS.

Petrov: We will talk with all parties for a government, except GERB-SDS, “Movement for rights and freedoms–New beginning“ and “Alliance for Rights and Freedoms“

In his words, the second main direction is the lack of internal control in the prosecutor's office. "The third main direction is the lack of procedural options for citizens. When you have suffered from a crime, you cannot depend on the subjective judgment of a prosecutor. You should be able to refer more government authorities. When the state tax is 4%, you should have the opportunity to ask for its reduction," he added.

According to him, the procedure for electing a new chief prosecutor is not lawful. “I personally think that there should not be an opportunity for such a procedure with one candidate,", he also said. "This is a consequence of the development of the justice system in the last two decades. With 38 people's representatives, we would not be able to renew the composition of the relevant quotas of the SJC", added Petrov.

"We are talking about the figure of the chief prosecutor, who should fight crime and conduct total leadership, which was discussed in the latest decision of the Supreme Court on our complaint from “Revival”. The longest mandate cannot be equated with ordinary decisions made by the SJC. A new SJC should be elected," believes the candidate for deputy.
