Partial local elections are being held today in 16 places in the country. Election day began at 7 a.m. and should end by 8 p.m., BNR reported.

Four candidates are competing for the post of mayor in the municipality of Omurtag.

Partial local elections are also held today in the Sofia village of Lozen. Nearly 6,000 voters have the right to vote. There are three candidates for mayor.

Partial local elections in Lozen were held after the mayor of the village, Georgi Mladenov, who was elected in the regular local elections in 2023, died at the beginning of August. Seven sections for voting have been opened in the largest village town hall in our country, informed the chairman of the Municipal Election Commission in Sofia, Polina Vitanova:

"Both paper and machine voting will be produced in all 7 sections. I expect the residents of Lozen City Hall to elect their mayor". She added that if none of the candidates receives more than 50% of the vote, there will be a runoff next Sunday.

Partial local elections are also held in two villages in Burgas region. In Troyanovo, Kameno municipality, the local vote was reached after the mayor was elected as a deputy. The death of the mayor of the Rouen village Cheresha necessitates the holding of elections there. In both settlements there is only one candidate for the mayor's chair.

Partial elections for mayor are also held in the village of Voinyagovo, Karlovo municipality, and in the village of Novo Zhelezare, Hisarya municipality.

There are four candidates for mayor of the Pleven village of Koilovtsi. 606 people will vote on the preliminary lists for mayor of Koilovtsi.

They can exercise their vote both with paper ballots and by machine.

There is also a mobile polling station for people with disabilities.

Partial local elections in Koilovtsi took place after the Municipal Election Commission in Pleven terminated the powers of the mayor Miroslav Iliev, so he resigned.

The Pleven Municipal Council has appointed Daniela Petkova as acting mayor of Koilovtsi, who will remain in office until a new mayor of the village is elected.

There are eight candidates who will fight for the votes of the people of Varna for the "Odessos" districts. and "Primorski" of the partial vote today.

208 polling stations were formed for the holding of partial elections for the mayor of the two Varna regions.
