The investigation into the deadly explosions near Elin Pelin continues - 1

Nearly 3 months after the explosions at fireworks warehouses near Elin Pelin, which claimed 4 human lives, the investigation continues, BNT reported.

The danger of another explosion has not passed, and access to the base is not restricted.

Three months after the fireworks warehouse explosions, the sabotage version has already been dismissed. The investigators are working on two specific directions that led to the loss of 4 human lives.

"The version of human error, expressed either in an act of human action or inaction, and the second reason, which has not been dropped and is also probable, is to have a moment of self-ignition and hence of self-explosion," said Ivan Delchev , investigator from NSlS.

The conclusion about the cause of the explosions is expected in 2 months at the earliest. Investigators are waiting for more documents.

"We have asked for them several times so far, they send them to us in parts for one reason or another. I am talking about the municipality of Elin Pelin. I don't blame the relevant officials for trying to hinder us in our work, it's just a fact. I expect in the coming days to receive those acts that put a certain building into operation", added Ivan Delchev.

The municipality of Elin Pelin stated that all the construction documents they have were given to the investigation.

"What is requested from the municipality of Elin Pelin are certificates for putting into operation - such type of certificates are issued for objects lower than category 4.5, in this case those in the base of "Enigma" are from 1 and 2, which permits are issued by DNSK", added Borislav Krastev, chief architect of the municipality of Elin Pelin.

As of today, the warehouses remain dangerous, and access to them is not completely restricted.

"The warehouse still has high-end pyrotechnic products, they are regularly transported to two new warehouses, which, however, do not have the capabilities of the warehouse where the accident happened. The warehouse base is still high-risk, this is because the Enigma company has secured security at warehouse number 6, where there are still pyrotechnic products, but the rest of the base is unguarded," commented Nikolay Berov, lawyer of the company, owner of the warehouses.

The road that leads to the warehouses is blocked by a barrier, but it turns out, this is not an obstacle for the ill-wishers.

"They also stole the preventive signs that were placed by the company and damaged the barrier, and we turned to the RU Ministry of Internal Affairs Elin Pelin, according to their capabilities, the base should be patrolled periodically to prevent encroachments. We have serious concerns that various persons are entering the base in the unguarded part, and this does not rule out new accidents," Nikolay Berov, the company's lawyer, also said.

The Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs promised that the police in Elin Pelin will increase the patrols that visit the place.

The latest that the owner of the warehouses has declared to the local municipality is a certificate that the warehouses are no longer fit for use.
