Bulgaria expects over 1.9 million foreign tourists this winter season. The whole year, the volume of the tourism product and sector is going with about a 5 percent increase. This was stated in the studio of “Wake Up” the Minister of Tourism Evtim Miloshev.
„We live in a united Europe and the standards are equal. Unfortunately, in terms of income, we are still lagging behind, but in terms of supply, we are in one European Union. When we talk about ski facilities, winter resorts, the investments that are made are the same. In Western Europe, however, there are better developed resorts, longer tracks, lifts. We have been struggling for so long to build a second one in Bansko. The road Sofia - Samokov is not good in order to get to Borovets more easily. There is no place to park in Pamporovo. These are infrastructure problems facing our resorts. One of the big problems is that the preferential rate of 9 percent for sports facilities has ended. This makes us uncompetitive. VAT in all sectors should remain at 9 percent from next year, he specified.
Milosev is adamant that Bulgaria is a safe destination for tourism.
