Dengue is an acute viral infection characteristic of tropical and subtropical regions. The virus is transmitted by the bite of Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes infected with the virus. In Europe, as well as in Bulgaria, the spread of Aedes albopictus mosquitoes has been proven, which makes it possible for the infection to spread in the presence of sick people. Clinically, the dengue virus infection is characterized by fever, very strong and prolonged muscle pain, headache, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and, in rare cases, rash and bleeding, the NCZPB indicated.
