"For four years the dams have been drained and not filled . They drained all the dams to the mud. They only give water and don't think that there should be water tomorrow. They should have started drastic savings last November, they didn't. For three years, they drained the dams so that some people could make a little money.
This was commented by the former eco-minister Emil Dimitrov-Revisoro in the show "The Day ON AIR".
He emphasized that the bill is paid by the people.
"They will bring water that they will put around the wells of Pleven so that the water in the wells can be raised. Only in Yambol is this done, in Kabyle, because the water horizon is high. Channels are made on the sides so that the surface water that comes can be removed and not pollute the water source. That's why sanitary-security zones are made, so that pesticides don't come in", Dimitrov explained to Bulgaria ON AIR.
According to him, the people of Pleven will not get water, but the water horizons and water sources will be polluted.
"Bivolare - the biggest source of water for Pleven, will turn out to be polluted after some time," warned the former Minister of Environment and Water.
"Once a contaminated water source 70 years "keep it to yourself". Dams are not well maintained. The dams are on the verge of collapse. Millions of acres used to be irrigated, now tens of times less fail. The problem is not the dams, but what happens when the water comes out of the dams. The channels and pumps were destroyed. They started extracting the underground water, and this is the water of the future, of our children," added Dimitrov.
When asked who was to blame for the lack of water, he replied that a number of governments were to blame when they removed entire pumps. Dimitrov noted that the people who "lied to Pleven, Shumen, Burgas and Varna are still in power".
