„ Hours ago, we filed a complaint with the Constitutional Court. First we must say that “cancel the elections” is not a legal term. Canceling elections or challenging their legality – that in the term. We want a full vote count, the actual result established and the mandates calculated based on that. We insist that all sacks be opened. Whether this request will be accepted by the CC remains to be seen. This was stated by the deputy from "Continuing the Change - Democratic Bulgaria" Nadezhda Yordanova on the air of the show "Your day" on NOVA NEWS.
"We have grouped our complaints. First are the differences between machine-counted votes and those found in paper records. Many sections have such a violation and it seems to us that they should be checked again. There are sections where there is a discrepancy between the number of voter signatures and the number of ballots found in the ballot boxes. We have indicated the sections that the Public Council of the CEC has identified as problems, as well as those with invalid ballots. We have made requests for expertise," she explained.
"Once the actual number of voters is established, it will be recalculated which parties enter the parliament and how the mandates are distributed. The SC will oblige the CEC, based on the actual result, to apply the methodology for determining the final allocation of mandates. There is such a practice in Bulgaria. In 2009 a change was made in the allocation of mandates after checking certain sections. This is not unprecedented," Yordanova said, adding that at the time this process took eight months.
"For the first time there is such a large-scale request to open the sections. It's all about organization. But I don't expect the Constitutional Court to rule before the month of February," the PP-DB deputy also said.
About the coalition's decision not to support the election of Raya Nazaryan as Speaker of the National Assembly, Yordanova said: “In addition to personal qualities, it is very important what principles unite the majority who support a given candidate”.
