Three new constitutional judges were sworn in at an official ceremony today at the Constitutional Court (SC).

Two of them were proposed by President Rumen Radev – Dr. Nevin Feti and Prof. Sasho Penov, and one was elected by the general assembly of judges of the Supreme Court and Supreme Court – judge Galina Toneva-Dacheva.

They will take the places of Philip Dimitrov, Prof. Mariyana Karagyozova and Tanya Rajkovska, respectively.

The event was attended by President Rumen Radev, the President of the Supreme Court of Cassation Galina Zakharova and the President of the Supreme Administrative Court Georgi Cholakov.

I hope that the people's representatives realize what damage is being done to parliamentarism, said President Rumen Radev after the ceremony on the occasion of the failed attempts of the deputies to elect a speaker of the National Assembly.

„I gave enough time between the elections and the first session of the National Assembly in the hope that the parties will have time to talk and we will not reach this deadlock,” commented Radev.

On the occasion of the decision of the judges' collegium of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJSC) to appoint Georgi Cholakov as acting president of the Supreme Administrative Court (SAC), the president said that the practice of unconstitutional decisions is increasing.

„Through the appointment of temporary acting officials, requirements that come with the issuing of decrees are circumvented, mandate principles are circumvented and guarantees for the independence of bodies are revoked, the powers of the head of state are circumvented. Such are the cases with the acting chief prosecutor, the temporary manager of the embassy in Ukraine”, Radev pointed out.

He also commented on the changes in the Constitution, depriving him of the authority to appoint a caretaker government: “The fathers of the changes in the Constitution renounced their birth. So this case will inevitably be considered. We all see what it means to have a government without clear political responsibility".
