The drama with the election of the Speaker of the Parliament continues. Who wants to beat whom and who is protecting what. The leader of “Revival” spoke to FACTS. Kostadin Kostadinov.
- Mr. Kostadinov, is your proposal of “Revival“ a utopia? all others against GERB-SDS and DPS - New beginning? The math for 122 deputies is coming out, but no desire is visible. Why?
- Many of the parties say one thing during a campaign and do another afterwards. Their messages are such as they assume their constituents want to hear, and their actions thereafter are such as are advantageous to the very elected members who are in the National Assembly, to benefit primarily themselves and those on whom they are dependent. Because of this, we see a stark difference between words during a campaign and deeds afterwards. Tomorrow, once again, they have a chance to stand behind what was said during a campaign.
- The election for the Speaker of the Parliament continues today, but the PP-DB vote is interesting – 20 against and 17 “abstained”. They don't vote en bloc. Can we expect a convergence of part of PP-DB with GERB-SDS…
- PP-DB have already expressed their desire for this. Just a few days ago, Atanas Atanasov called on Boyko Borisov to sit down at the table and overcome their differences. But this schizophrenic behavior on the part of this party is not new, they have always been with GERB and DPS, until recently they ruled with them. I remind you that Delyan Peevski also claimed more than once that they drink fatty Turkish coffee in his lap.
- And you nominated a candidate for chairman. Did you do it just for the vote or do you see Petar Petrov as the unifying figure?
- We have always nominated a candidate for the Speaker of the National Assembly. In addition to Petar Petrov, in past parliaments we have also nominated Tsveta Rangelova. Every lawyer from the group of "Revival" is sufficiently prepared to be able to assume the position of Speaker of the National Assembly and fulfill it with substance.
- At the moment, you are somehow putting the other parties in front of a dilemma in which they have to make a choice between GERB-SDS and DPS-New Beginning - on one side, and on the other is "Revival". Who seems like a more acceptable partner?
- If all the parties that claim to be against corruption and the dirty-oligarchic regime of governance of GERB and DPS are sincere in their claims - the choice is not difficult.
- Is it a “Revival“ a more dialogic party and are you prepared to compromise if there is any chance of a multi-party backed cabinet…
- We are ready for talks, and our ideological differences with other parties have a simple solution - a referendum. The referendum is the most democratic form, which gives Bulgarian citizens the opportunity to choose and puts the decision of all important issues in their hands.
- Borisov talks about a leadership meeting. Will you respond?
- On the contrary, Borisov said that there will be no leadership meeting unless the possibility of management is discussed, and we with GERB and DPS will not even talk about management.
- "Vazrazhdane", BSP and ITN submitted two appeals to the Constitutional Court to declare unconstitutional the decision to elect the acting prime minister only among 10 people. What do you expect?
- The Constitutional Court has already made decisions to the detriment of the Bulgarian citizens, after it did not rule in favor of holding a referendum to preserve the Bulgarian lev. We expect at least now that he will make a decision that will correct the mistakes made by PP-DB, which are creating a constitutional crisis.
- The option of full cashing of the elections that you proposed did not find support in the parliament. What are other parties afraid of?
- We presented data according to which all parties are buying votes, and electoral manipulations mainly benefit DPS and a pariah who did not enter the parliament. They are afraid to admit this fact.
