Dr. Yulian Petrov: Unfortunately, the Bulgarian teacher works in several places - 1

The Bulgarian teacher works in several places and this is not good for education, unfortunately it is a practice. I call on the public to trust the Bulgarian teacher more and not to look at the salary, but to partner with him.

This was stated by Dr. Julian Petrov, chairman of the "Education" trade union. of KT "Podkrepa", in an interview with BNR.

He announced that teachers want and are ready to strike if their salaries are not increased. The Trade Union Federation has done a survey of teachers, not just "Support" members, which shows there is support from over 10,000 for a protest.

"They say teacher pay and money for education in general should be increased, 87% believe they should unionize as a protest if teacher pay is not raised. The union reacted in this way because we do not have a quick dialogue with the Ministry of Finance and the government, whether we will have more money for education. Will the deputies comply with the law they voted for raising teachers' salaries", commented Dr. Petrov.

He pointed out that a young teacher currently, without additional payments, receives a salary of BGN 1,445, "which is indicative that even if young people become teachers with the numerous duties, they will not stay".

The trade unionist recalled that they want a 21% wage increase:

"And we have estimated that this will guarantee 125% above the average gross salary for the country. GERB and PP-DB have it in their election platforms and we have it in the industry contract. Gross salary now they receive is just over 110% of gross average."

Dr. Petrov reported that according to the survey, 77% are ready to protest, nearly 50% of teachers are for a national effective strike, others for an electronic strike with documents and signatures. And 21.6% are for not completing the first term, the trade unionist warned.
