The Bulgarian army will buy pistols of NATO standard, bTV reported, referring to BGNES.
The Ministry of Defense has launched a public order for the purchase of a new type of pistols to replace the old Soviet “Makarov”.
The new pistol must be of 9x19 caliber, shoot at no less than 50 m, the magazine must hold no less than 17 rounds. These are just some of its technical characteristics. Among the requirements are also that after 10,000 shots the gun should not be damaged or deformed. It should be able to fire in atmospheric conditions from -40 to +50 degrees Celsius.
Earlier, the commander of the ground forces, Gen. Deyan Deshkov in an interview for “Bulgarian Army“ announced the upcoming replacement and retirement of the old “Makarov“ pistols.
In addition to new pistols, the Bulgarian army will also get new multi-caliber sniper rifles, machine guns, assault carbines and smoothbore rifles.
