New snow fell tonight in the Petrohan pass in the Stara Planina Mountains, which is the shortest road from the Montana and Vidin regions to Sofia. The road has been cleaned, sanded and is passable in winter conditions, the person on duty at the Montana Regional Road Department told BTA.
Currently, the temperature in the pass, which is located at 1,409 meters above sea level, is minus three degrees. There are two machines on the road that clean and sand.
There are no traffic jams or accidents. The road authority advises drivers not to drive with summer tires, as they may cause a short circuit and block the road.
The ban on heavy goods vehicles over 12 tons passing through Petrohan in both directions remains in effect, as does the restriction on towing trailers and the movement of motor vehicles over 12 meters long, the road authority specified.
