At the height of Christmas, snow again "surprised" us, BNT reported.
A snow cover covered part of the two main highways in our country - "Trakia" and "Hemus", making it significantly more difficult to move along them. Today, traffic is expected towards the capital due to people returning home after the holidays.
This morning, it is snowing over the entire Sofia region, 108 machines are on the ground processing the roads, including the "Hemus", "Trakia" and "Struma" highways.
So far, there are no closed sections and restrictions in place. If necessary, the movement of vehicles over 12 tons on the highways may be temporarily restricted, explained Eng. Kremen Sachanski - Director of the Regional Road Administration - Sofia to BNT.
"The highways and first-class roads are being cleaned as a priority, the second and third-class roads may experience delays, but at the moment all are passable".
Because of the snow yesterday in the section around "Trayanovi vrata" on the "Trakia" motorway, cars and trucks were stuck. The situation was similar on the "Hemus" motorway, on which vehicles were moving at a speed of about 50 km/h.
There were snowplows on both motorways, but the cleaning and processing of the road took place with a delay.
