Sarafov asks Kiselova about the requested immunities of Ibryamov, Rangelov and Borislavova - 1

Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov sent a letter to the Speaker of the 51st National Assembly Natalia Kiselova, in which he stated that as of January 9 this year, the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Bulgaria (PRB) had not received information regarding the requests for permission to initiate criminal prosecution against three MPs – Jeyhan Ibryamov, Mario Rangelov and Lena Borislavova, reported by Dariknews.bg.
According to the constitutional provisions, the parliament was notified of requests for immunities as early as 13.11.2024 - for Ibryamov, and on 19.12.2024 - for Rangelov and Borislavova.

In the letter to the Speaker of the National Assembly, the Acting Prosecutor General draws attention to the fact that the Criminal Procedure Code (Art. 22, para. 2) introduces an obligation for the prosecutor and the investigative bodies to ensure the conduct of pre-trial proceedings within the procedural deadlines provided for by law, and the provision of Art. 203 of the Criminal Procedure Code requires that all measures be taken in a timely manner to ensure a lawful investigation.

Borislav Sarafov expects the National Assembly to provide information to the Public Prosecutor's Office on the actions taken in connection with the submitted requests for permission to initiate criminal prosecution against the three members of parliament in accordance with the Rules of Procedure for the Organization and Activities of the National Assembly.
