The new Minister of Transport Grozdan Karadjov has accepted the resignations of the heads of NRIC engineer Stoyan Stoyanov and of „BDZ-Freight Transport“ engineer Hristiyan Krastev, reports „24 Chasa“.
On January 15, the former Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev dismissed Biser Minchev from the position of Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications.
Previously, Krasimira Stoyanova demanded the resignations of the General Director of NC „Railway Infrastructure“ Stoyan Stoyanov and the manager of „BDZ-Freight Transport“ EAD Hristiyan Krastev. We recall that earlier this month Stoyanova also terminated the competition procedure for the selection of the Director General of the National Company “Railway Infrastructure“ (NRIC), opened on 31.10.2024.
Days later, the European Prosecutor's Office in Sofia brought charges of fraud against four suspects following an investigation into a project for the design and construction of signaling and telecommunications systems in the Bulgarian railway network. The project, which concerns the railway section between Plovdiv and Burgas, is worth nearly BGN 185 million in European funding.
Two managers of an Italian company and a manager of a Bulgarian company, part of the consortium that won the contract, have been charged with fraud in public procurement.
The candidates admitted to the competition for the selection of the Director General of the National Company “Railway Infrastructure“ are Maria Genova, Krasimir Papukchiyski and Stoyan Stoyanov.
Stoyanov's resignation, along with that of Hristiyan Krastev, is already a fact due to the train accident near Lokorsko on Wednesday, in which a train driver and a BDZ employee died. Six were injured, two of whom were in life-threatening condition.
There are two versions of the accident - one of the trains ran a red light or the dispatcher gave an incorrect command.
The serious incident between the two freight trains of “BDZ-Freight Transport“ and the private company “PIMK Rail“ occurred between the Svetovrachene and Kremikovtzi stations near Sofia.
This is not the first such railway accident. In 2023 we showed you how a freight and passenger train, carrying a total of 200 people, almost collided head-on at Kardzhalovo station.
