Martin Dimitrov: It is bad if taxes are raised, a conversation about which is already being held informally - 1

There are problems that should be solved. The people who talk about worrying data, they created this situation. This was said in the program "From the Day" on BNT, the MP from "We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria" and a member of the Budget Committee in Parliament, Martin Dimitrov, in connection with the information that the Minister of Finance Temenuzhka Petkova presented worrying data on the state of the country's budget during the meeting of the Joint Management Council.

When preparing the current budget, expenses were raised in the education system and in the security system outside the budget. Even then, we said not to do this, because this creates a risk for both the budget and Bulgaria's entry into the eurozone. I don't know why it took so long for these same people who are now speaking to realize it, I can't say, said Dimitrov.

Salaries in the Ministry of Interior system were raised at the proposal of GERB, BSP and DPS. We were against the increase, not because salaries should not be increased, but this cannot be done outside the budget and without reforms. There are thousands of pensioners in the "Security" sector, this hinders the career development of young people. This is a large-scale reform that must be made. Salaries must be raised, but after reforms and the release of pensioners from the system. The caretaker government also gave the municipalities some money that is not in the budget. Expenditures that are not in the budget create the biggest problem, they create the biggest turmoil. There is an accumulation of situations one on top of the other, pointed out the MP from "We continue the change - Democratic Bulgaria".

The situation is solvable, but we need a will for real reforms. The bad development is that the ruling majority will start raising taxes, a conversation about which is already being held informally in the National Assembly. This would be a very serious mistake, because it will reduce the potential for growth and development of the economy. In no case should taxes be raised, reforms should be made to reduce expenses, Martin Dimitrov emphasized.

The budget that has now been submitted must be withdrawn because it does not meet the criteria for expenses. A new budget must be submitted together with reformist policies. These people have gathered to distribute their posts, but if they do not reduce expenses, the situation will worsen. We are inclined to lend a hand and support measures to reduce costs, commented the member of the budget committee in parliament.

Entering the eurozone should be a maximum goal – this is good for the development of Bulgaria. We meet the criteria if the European Central Bank and the European Commission apply to Bulgaria the criteria they have applied in recent years, said the MP from "Continuing the Change - Democratic Bulgaria".
