The tripartite council did not reach an agreement on salaries in the Ministry of Interior - 1

Disagreement in the tripartite council over the proposals for changes to the Ministry of Interior Act. They provide for measures to limit costs. Among the ideas are cutting retirement benefits and calculating salaries on a regional basis. The proposals did not receive support from the unions and some of the employer organizations, BNT reported.

The proposal to calculate salaries in the Ministry of Interior based on the average salary for each region is from deputies from the PP-DB. The Confederation of Bulgarian Trade Unions and the Confederation of Labour "Podkrepa" did not support it. The Trade Union Federation of Employees in the Ministry of Interior is also against it.

"There is discrimination - regional. Payment in the regions is proposed. If this is adopted at all, it will cause such migration that many of the settlements in the country will remain unprovided with Ministry of Interior employees, "said the chairman of the Federation of Bulgarian Federations of Interior and Interior Affairs, Iliya Kuzmanov.

Some of the employer organizations refrained from supporting the proposed changes.

"Our view is that things should not be looked at piecemeal. Rather, internal reserves should be discussed, including this. What proportion of the employees should be civil servants, what proportion should be under an employment relationship," commented the deputy chairman of the Bulgarian Industrial Association, Maria Mincheva.

The proposal for changes provides that newly appointed employees in the Ministry of Interior will receive 10, instead of 20 salaries upon retirement.

"There is a need for reform in the Ministry of Interior and this reform must be comprehensive. "The effectiveness of the Ministry of Interior system is unsatisfactory," explained PP-DB PG MP Bozhidar Bozhanov.

The proposals for changes are to be discussed in the National Assembly.
