The National Assembly has held 44 sessions, adopted four completely new laws and 11 amendments to laws during the past session, announced the Speaker of the Parliament Natalia Kiselova in a comment distributed by the press center of the National Assembly.

Among the legislative acts, she highlighted the extension of the state budget for 2024, as well as the adopted state budget and budgets of the State Social Insurance and the National Health Insurance Fund for 2025.

According to Natalia Kiselova, the deputies have managed to create a government that has overcome two serious tests - two votes of no confidence. There was a political decision to adopt a declaration of non-participation of Bulgarian troops in possible military operations on the territory of Ukraine in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, she pointed out.

Kiselova also recalled that in mid-March the deadline for the decision of a previous National Assembly on the equipment for the “Belene“ NPP expired and the ruling majority must now consider how it should be used.

According to Kiselova, the fragmentation of the parliament in certain cases greatly complicates decision-making, but the laws adopted during the past session are quite consensual and were adopted with a higher than ordinary majority.

The slower pace of adoption of changes in the laws should guarantee their long-termness and predictability, the Speaker of the Parliament emphasized. The focus of legislative activity should be on making fewer changes to the laws, but seeking more serious depth, added Natalia Kiselova.

The National Assembly paid considerable attention to the addictions associated with new types of electronic cigarettes, drugs, including the use of the so-called laughing gas, as well as the impact of alcohol and drug use on traffic safety, Kiselova also said.
