Oil products of unknown composition and origin have surfaced again on a large part of the beach in Pomorie. These are black, oily stains and balls, some of them entangled in the algae thrown onto the shore. The pollution is greater than that of 2 days ago, the Bulgarian National Radio warned.
An official announcement is expected from the Burgas Regional Administration, where a meeting of representatives of state institutions and Black Sea mayors was held this morning.
In none of the reports broadcast on the Bulgarian National Radio did it report that there was a spill on the beach in Pomorie - be it oil or fuel oil. And today, the Bulgarian National Radio correspondent in Burgas found black, liquid, oily balls and stains on the spot. A large part of the beach strip, encompassing the beaches of "Skalichki", "Kolchetata", "Horizont" and "La Habana", has been thrown away. This morning, only one worker was seen cleaning with a shovel.
Samples need to be taken and analyzed, because it is not the same whether it is fuel oil, or oil, or another oil product with impurities. For now, the content remains unclear, as does the source of the pollution.
According to official institutions, these are regular processes. During rough seas, these oil products floated ashore. This was shown by the data from the monitoring system.
An official press release from the Burgas Regional Government is expected.
"The excavator is not digging anything, we are leveling. We will not bury the fuel oil. Today we will clean up the fuel oil", said a representative of the concessionaire of the "La Habana" beach. Otherwise, this morning they saw that there was fuel oil on the beach, but it was not much.
The mayor of Pomorie Ivan Aleksiev refused to comment on the topic on the Bulgarian National Radio. He indicated that he had a meeting and was busy.
