A torrential downpour flooded the streets in Asenovgrad and turned them into rivers. Hail hit the villages of Bachkovo, Gornoslav, Yavrovo, Cherven, Stoevo, Topolovo and the Asenovgrad district "Gorni Voden", Nova TV reported.
Footage shared on social media shows how the streets in the village of Topolovo have literally turned white from the ice chunks. The mayor of the village, Remzie Kodjaali, said that car windows in the settlement were broken, and people's crops were damaged by the hail.
It is raining heavily in Cherven. The only transformer in the area has burned out and half the village is without electricity, Mayor Atanas Ignatov announced.
According to posts on social media in Bachkovo and Gornoslav, the ice balls were the size of walnuts.
