I agree with the Secretary of the President Krum Zarkov, who, when submitting his resignation, said that the issue has already been commented on and there is a decision by the Constitutional Court. I am surprised and somehow disappointed why the President is making this move. And at this moment. It is obvious that such an issue has no constitutionality. I expect that this issue will create a scandal and controversy in the National Assembly. This was stated in the studio of “Wake up” on Nova TV by the President of the Confederation of Bulgarian Trade Unions Plamen Dimitrov, commenting on the decision of President Rumen Radev to submit a proposal to the parliament for a referendum on the euro.
In his words, this referendum "is somehow late". "People should ask themselves. I agree that referendums should be held and what people say should be respected. But in a timely manner. Now it is too late in my opinion. And I think that the decisions have already been made", he stressed.
Dimitrov recalled a few facts about the euro. Our country has been in the Banking Union for 5 years. That is, commercial banks are in the eurozone. "Our money, our savings, are in the eurozone. The country has been in a currency board since 1998. That is, independence and this complaint about the leva - it has long been in the past", he is categorical. And he recalled that the euro banknotes already say "euro in Bulgarian".
The head of the CITUB was categorical that the expected convergence report - aloud or silently, according to his sources - will be positive. He stressed that he does not know "why the president is creating such chaos". According to him, in the countries that adopted the euro before us, there was an increase in income.
Dimitrov announced that a serious protest by drivers in the capital's transport is being considered. He expressed the opinion that it is not excluded that Sofia will be left without public transport on May 14. From 4 am, the depots will not be open.
"Funds for salaries can be found", he is categorical.
