With the work of the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius, we celebrate Bulgaria's contribution to European and world civilization, and today dozens of schools in the country celebrate their patron saint's holiday.. This was said by the Minister of Education and Science Krasimir Valchev during the celebrations on the occasion of the 145th anniversary of the founding of the "St. Cyril and Methodius" Primary School in Nikolaevo and on the Day of the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles. Among the guests of the event were the Speaker of the National Assembly Assoc. Prof. Natalia Kiselova, the Rector of Sofia University Prof. Georgi Valchev, the Metropolitan of Stara Zagora Kiprian, the Mayor of the Municipality of Nikolaevo Eng. Konstantin Kostov and others.
“Baptism and letters are what have given us identity and marked our development as a people“, Minister Valchev also emphasized. He also addressed all current and former teachers at the “St. St. Cyril and Methodius“ Primary School who have contributed to its development over the past century and a half. “A bow to all of you who have given so much and contributed to Nikolaevo having a number of notable public figures“, he said and congratulated the director Venina Tsonkova for the results they are achieving today.
On the solemn day, Minister Valchev wished all teachers in the country to have the strength and energy to cope with everyday challenges. “Society has entrusted you with the most important mission – to make children knowledgeable, capable and good people. We rely on you to live in a better and more prosperous society“, Krasimir Valchev addressed them.
The Primary School “St. Cyril and Methodius“ in the town of Nikolaevo, Stara Zagora region, celebrates its 145th anniversary on May 11, 2025. Over the years, the school has established itself as an important educational and cultural center in the region, with many achievements and initiatives that emphasize its role in the development of the local community. Currently, 330 students are studying at the school. The education is provided by 33 pedagogical specialists.
