Andrey Kovachev: We are not blocking the RSM for the EU. They are not implementing the 2022 consensus and it is not the problem in Bulgaria - 1

This is a very good signal from Bulgaria that we have unanimity on the topic of North Macedonia. There is no dispute between us and the RSM, and there is a European consensus since 2022. 27 member states have said "yes" and this will be the basis for the accession of the RSM to the EU and their previous government has accepted this consensus - this is what he commented in the studio of "The Day Begins with Georgi Lyubenov" EPP/GERB-SDF MEP Andrey Kovachev.
According to him, this is a country that has consistency, regardless of the change of governments:

"Even if Skopje doesn't like it, they must fulfill an international legal commitment, both with the agreement with Bulgaria and with the 2022 consensus. I am categorically against Bulgaria unblocking the adoption of the RSM, but we are not blocking anything. They are not implementing the 2022 consensus and it is not the problem in Bulgaria."

The European French proposal continues to be a guarantor of this. All diplomacy in the RSM is wasting the time of its own citizens, Kovachev emphasized and added:

"Instead of doing what they should do in the interest of their own citizens and the entire EU, if we are also talking geopolitically - it is important for the Western Balkans to also enter the EU so that there are no other influences - China, Russia, etc., this is on the one hand. On the other hand, they are wasting a lot of financial resources of their own country, a lot of efforts of their diplomacy - touring the USA, Europe, Brussels and lobbying my colleagues to change the 2022 consensus."

Andrei Kovachev called on Prime Minister Hristiyan Mickoski to work on what the country has adopted and this is in the interest of the citizens of the RSM and the entire EU. This is the civilized way of conducting politics.
