From 9 am on June 16 (Monday), motor vehicles over 3.5 tons traveling from Montana to Sofia will be able to pass through the “Petrohan“ pass – road II-81. Trucks will not travel through the pass on weekends - Saturday and Sunday, on weekdays from 5 am to 9 am and from 4 pm to 7 pm, and on Fridays from 4 pm to 9 am on Monday. The restriction will facilitate the travel of residents of the region when they set off on their journey in the morning and in the afternoon when they return home.
The road through the “Petrohan“ pass is one of the possible alternative routes for trucks traveling from Montana to Sofia. The detour routes for vehicles due to the modernization of the Mezdra – Botevgrad road are as follows:
For passenger cars up to 3.5 t, the detour is via road III-1004 Pavolche – Chelopek – road III-1602 Chelopek – village of Lyutibrod – road II-16 Lyutibrod – Eliseyna – Svoge – Sofia ring road and back.
For vehicles over 3.5 t, the main bypass routes are:
road II-13 Krapchene - Krivodol - Borovan - Byala Slatina - Knezha - Dolni Dabnik - road I-3 Dolni Dabnik - Cherven Bryag - Lukovit - Zlatna Panega - AM “Hemus“ and back;
road II-15 Vratsa - Borovan - II-13 Borovan - Byala Slatina - Knezha - Dolni Dabnik - road I-3 Dolni Dabnik - Cherven Bryag - Lukovit - Zlatna Panega - AM “Hemus“ and vice versa.
The possible detour routes for vehicles over 3.5 t are:
Only in the direction of Montana - on the "Hemus" Motorway - road I-3 Yablanitsa - Zlatna Panega - road III-3082 Zlatna Panega - Roman - road III-103 Roman - Mezdra - p. v. "Moravitsa" - road I-1 p. v. Moravitsa - Vratsa - Montana;
Only in the direction of Sofia - on road II-81 through the "Petrohan" pass until 11.07.2025.
As detour routes, drivers will be able to use other republican roads, observing the permanent traffic organization in force for them.
